Gerald Dewsbury RCA has had three successful shows at Ffin y Parc in 2013, 2015 and 2016. He had a major exhibition & book launch in September 2017 to coincide with his 60th birthday. After further exhibitions in 2018 and 2020, Gerald will return with a new body of work in October 2022.
His landscapes are detailed and meticulously observed. Sometimes they catch the fleeting moment as the wave breaks, or when the light is just so, or the mist is just about to dissolve; sometimes he shows us the effects of years or decades as thickets choke the light, moss and decay return fallen trees to the earth and whole landscapes slowly become wood or bog. Always, his keen eye, knowledge of and reverence for his surroundings give his work an authority which is arresting. But the work is not merely accurate - there are strong elements of symbolism, and imagination. There is introspection and wonder.
After graduating from Falmouth School of Art Gerald Dewsbury pursued his vocation and career as an Artist and moved to North Wales in search of a wilder and more varied landscape. His artwork spans a broad spectrum - from introspective perceptions through to symbolic and romantic landscapes, objective studies, architectural portraits and wildlife illustrations. His subjects and concerns stem primarily from his own particular perception of what is seen about him and how he relates to it.
Gerald Dewsbury's work appears in many public and private collections. He is married to Kim and they live near Corwen.
