For his latest show at Ffin y Parc, Gerald has made over 60 new works.
His landscapes are detailed and meticulously observed. Sometimes they catch the fleeting moment as the wave breaks, or when the light is just so, or the mist is just about to dissolve; sometimes he shows us the effects of years or decades of slow growth or decay. Time and timelessness, the restlessness and the patience…
Man is an absence, only his effects on the world remain - his track worn through his field; his wall, his vapour-trail.
Gerald's his keen eye, knowledge of and reverence for his surroundings give his work an authority which is arresting. But the work is not merely accurate - there are strong elements of symbolism, and imagination. There is introspection and wonder.
Gerald studied at the Falmouth School of Art and was drawn to North Wales by the landscape. His work appears in many public and private collections. He is married to Kim and they live near Corwen
