David is now firmly established as one of Wales' most popular and collected artists. He has been exhibiting with us since 2011, and his latest body of work consists of 100 paintings.
The show contains still-life and landscape, watercolour and oil, all showing an artist who is in complete control of his medium; he is able to catch in a seemingly straight-forward and most accessible way not only the changes wrought on the landscape by light and weather, but their interplay with the inner landscape of the artist or bystander.
His preoccupation is not merely with the water, the sky and the mountains, or with the moods and feelings that they arouse. He is also highly attuned to the effects of the freight and internal dialogues that we all carry with us, and their power to alter our perceptions. His palate is varied and always subtly expressive, nuanced and intelligent. The forests and lakes can be sources of joy and contentment, full of light, life and optimism; or they can be brooding and bleached, holding themselves tight, still and watchful.
David was born in 1956. He moved to North Wales in 1991 to paint full-time. His paintings appear in public and private collections world-wide. He currently lives in Criccieth.
(Please note: The last day to view the exhibition in its entirety is Sunday 9th October. The 12th will only be the remaining available works.)
