In her latest collection for us, Chloë presents paintings of mostly fruits and flowers. Simple, familiar subjects, brought to the studio and displayed on plain plates and simple tables.
This work speaks of beauty and decay, bloom and collapse. Our lives hurtle pell-mell toward certain oblivion. But in the captured, conscious moment there can be a celebration of present, triumphant beauty. And an appreciation of its rarity and value.
Chloë's work is lush and extravagant. Taking comfort in, and making the case for beauty for its own sake. She evokes a sense of connection with the past, and a spirit of generosity prevails. We have been gifted this knowledge of our evanescence. It comes from intellect and imagination. It is painful and glorious.
Chloë was born in 1981. Originally from Chester, she has been living and working near Leeds for several years. As well as her regular exhibitions here, she shows her work in Yorkshire and London where her work is becoming increasingly sought after.
