DAVID LLOYD GRIFFITH RCA

For his new show with us, David has made a collection of smaller works, all made, as usual, out in the weather and the light of the landscapes which are his home, his mirror and his anchor.

He works quickly, instinctively, trying to keep pace with the weather and the shadows running, to catch the light and the moment. And also to catch and track his own ever-modulating responses and moods.  Returning to  familiar or favourite views, it is like a meditation, the repetition of a mantra, looking for the balance and the stillness in the seasons'  inexorable churning, the cycle of growth and harvest and re-growth, decline and return, darkness and light.

With work of such immediacy openness and sincerity, it is little wonder that David is one of the most popular and collected artists currently working in North Wales: His love of the landscape and his commitment to it shines from every painting.

Ar gyfer ei sioe newydd i ni, mae David wedi creu casgliad o baentiadau bychain, wedi eu gwneud, fel arfer allan ynghanol  tywydd a golau'r tirweddau  sy'n gartref, ac yn ddrych ac yn angor iddo.

Mae e'n gweithio'n gyflym, yn reddfol, gan ceisio cadw i fyny gyda'r tywydd a'r cysgodion yn rhedeg, er mwyn dal y golau a'r ennyd. Ac hefyd i ddal ac i ddilyn ei ymatebion a'i dymherau lled-newidiol. Mae dychwelyd dro ar ol tro i'w hoff olygfeydd fel synfyfyrio, yr ailadroddiad cyson o rhyw fantra, y chwilio am  cydbwysedd a llonyddwch ynghanol corddi diwrthdro'r tymhorau, cylchdro tyfiant a chynhaeaf ac ail-dyfiant, dirywiad a dychweliad, tywyllwch a golau.

Gyda gwaith sydd mor agored ac yn berchen ar ddiffuantrwydd ac uniongyrchedd mor amlwg, does dim syndod bod David erbyn hyn yn un o artistiaid mwyaf poblogaidd a chasgliadwy Gogledd Cymru. Mae ei gariad a'i ymroddiad i'r tirwedd ac i'w gynefin yn tywynnu  ymhob llun.
