Animals have been a source of fascination for Anna since childhood. They are there, in nursery rhymes, in children's stories and fairytales, in myths and folklore.
Some of the earliest surviving man-made images depict animals. Throughout our history we have used animals in stories to teach our children about themselves and the world. The same techniques and preoccupation appear everywhere, in disparate cultures all over the world.
Anna's work centres on the dynamic, special relationship we have with animals. Those we have domesticated and those we consider wild or dangerous. In her refined and elegant work simplified animal forms express human characteristics and emotions, often incorporating text from childhood rhymes and poems.
