Kim Dewsbury "Inspiredby my rural surroundings - I value that first hand contact with nature; my sketchbooks are filled with walks, insects, clouds, natural ephemera etc. Patterns and textures fascinate: the velvetyskin of a peach, the undulating folds of a distant hillside, the patina of a well thumbed book.....everything has a story to tell."
Excited by all the possibilities opening up again in her painting, and currently fascinated by still life - her work is primarily an exploration of what she sees in front of her, and while enjoying the physical properties of paint she aims to give a solidity and reality and a significance to the often unassuming subject matter. (Kim is working towards a series of oil paintings which connect still life and landscape through association of places and objects.)
Originally from Cornwall, Kim left Falmouth School of Art with a Degree in Fine Art, and has continued to explore mixed media and painting. Kim has exhibited widely in the past - including Royal Academy Summer Shows, Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru, Y Tabernacl, Machynlleth, John Noott, Broadway and Falmouth Art Gallery, to name a few. Kim has lived in North Wales for thirty years and has recently been able to return to her passion for painting after many years of organising and curating exhibitions. In 2013 she was selected as winner of the North Wales Open.
Kim Dewsbury has had exhibitions with us in 2015, 2017, 2018 & 2019. She with return with a new body of work in June 2020.
