Sue Ruben lives between Rowen, Snowdonia and Liverpool. She has been drawing and painting for many years, developing her own unique artistic vision.

Sue had a long career as a consultant psychiatrist, working most recently in North Wales. She retired in 2015 and has since then concentrated on developing further as an artist. She has prioritised life drawing. All the models come from the Liverpool Independent Art school, which she attends. Sue has used charcoal and pastel for these works. She uses bold colours and backgrounds to the figures which are white in contrast and drawn almost exclusively using straight lines. Her previous career has influenced the narrative for her works which reflect both the humour and imperfection of the human condition.
