Moya Davern was born in Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan. She is a graduate of Bristol University B.Sc.Hon. Moya began painting later in life, specialising in Botanical Illustration.

Moya was an art Tutor for twenty years, eleven years of which teaching for the SELL (School of Education and Lifelong Learning ) at Aberystwyth University - winning an award for outstanding Tutor of the year.

She has regularly exhibited regionally and nationally, now retired she is concentrating on painting in her favourite medium of watercolour in the genres of flowers and still life. Her work aims to explore a contemporary delivery of these subjects influenced by the themes of the Early Dutch School with the emphasis on attention to detail, texture, light and shade. The work is detailed and sharply focused. Often she uses the repetition of shapes, objects and themes within the picture to create a sense of rhythm, and to draw the viewer into her meticulously observed and highly organized world. She encourages the eye to pick and probe - she makes us look, and see these subjects anew, quietly and free from distraction.

Moya Davern gained many R.H.S. medals, including two gold and five Silver-Gilt. She has works in major collections worldwide including the Shirley Sherwood Collection and The Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation U.S.A.

Moya had successful exhibitions with us in 2015 and again in 2016
